On October 2, "The Last Day of a Death Row Inmate" will be performed at the Alanya Cultural Center
Victor Hugo's immortal work "The Last Day of a Death Row Inmate" is brought to the stage by Theater Go!
The play raises contemporary issues such as justice, criminal law, and death penalties, prompting the audience to question the trial of the inmate and the process leading to execution, alongside a crowd that watches executions as entertainment.
In this work, considered the first monologue of modern literature, Hugo also reveals the tragicomic aspect of the death penalty. While witnessing the story of a man sentenced to death, you will struggle to determine who the real criminal is: the murderer who committed the crime or the society eager to watch the execution as a spectacle.
The play is supervised by Altan Gördüm, directed by Sertaç Yekeboğa, and Oğuz Öztaş will be seen this time in the role of the inmate.
"You are alive, it seems. Finally. You are okay. Stay that way. Farewell."
