Traffic Bypass in Alanya! Congested Iskele Road to Be Relieved

Alanya Municipality Takes Action to Ease Traffic: The Constantly Congested Iskele Road Will Be Relieved
Alanya Municipality has taken another important step in its transportation and environmental regulation project, initiated to reduce traffic congestion in the city center and increase pedestrian flow.
The new road arrangement, announced by Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik with the goal of “making urban transportation smoother,” was opened to service with hot asphalt paving.
ACCESS TO THE CITY CENTER
As part of the project implemented by the Alanya Municipality’s Directorate of Public Works, a new connection road was opened, running alongside the old municipal building and extending to the Atatürk Monument.
A total of 240 tons of asphalt were used for the 110-meter-long route. Vehicles coming from the Iskele direction will now be able to reach the city center directly via this road.
THE ROAD IS BEING PEDESTRIANIZED
In this project, the existing Z-shaped road between the Alanya Municipality Social Facility and Barış Manço Park is being closed to traffic and converted into a pedestrian zone. Sales stands will be set up in the area for female artisans to showcase their handmade products. This will both ease access to handmade items and is expected to increase the number of visitors to the area.
NO DIRECT ACCESS TO ISKELE
With the new arrangement, buses transporting passengers to tour boats will no longer be allowed direct access to the harbor (Iskele). Instead, tour vehicles will be directed to parking lots around the Atatürk Monument. Tourist groups will walk to the boats from there, reducing traffic congestion along the coastline.
A MORE FUN ENVIRONMENT
In the second phase of the project, Barış Manço Park will be renovated. The park, currently 1,384 square meters in size, will be expanded to 1,606 square meters. With the new landscaping and playground areas, a safer and more enjoyable space will be created for children.
TO BE IMPLEMENTED
Commenting on the project, Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik said:
“We are prioritizing projects that will improve transportation comfort and contribute to the city’s aesthetics.
With this project, we are both solving the congestion around the harbor and creating a pedestrian area that aligns with urban aesthetics. We will also modernize Barış Manço Park. I hope these improvements that add value to our city will be beneficial for the people of Alanya.”
