Pufferfish Attacked Professor

In Antalya, a professor who fed a pigfish mussels during every dive was shocked when the fish bit his hand.

Professor Dr. Mehmet Gökölü, a lecturer at the Faculty of Aquatic Products at the Mediterranean University, was recently conducting a training dive with his students off the coast of Konyaalti. During the dive, Gökölü noticed a pigfish that his students had previously fed mussels.

When Gökölü offered the mussel to the fish, like his students, he was shocked when the fish suddenly bit his hand. The fish, after eating the mussels, came back to Gökölü and bit his finger. The professor, who began to bleed, responded to the fish with curses. These moments were captured on an underwater camera.

"SHE BITES ME"

Professor Dr. Gökölü reported that the same fish always accompanied them on many dives: "Several times our students fed it Pacific mussels, and it got used to us. When we dived, it always followed us, as if it had become one of us. When we called it, it came quickly. The last time I decided to offer a mussel. It ate its meat, and since there was still some meat left, I offered it to it again, but it bit my hand. We do not know why it bit, it probably missed. I got a small wound, and of course I was a little angry and expressed dissatisfaction. I tried to drive it away, but it does not go away."

"ALL THE STUDENTS PLAY WITH IT"

Gökölü called the fish "our mascot, very cute," adding, "I hope it doesn't get caught or hurt. It's part of nature. It's become our mascot. "Every time we see it, all the students play with it."
