Beach Mafia in Alanya! Forced Umbrella Rentals

An incident at the famous Damlataş Beach in Alanya has sparked outrage. A citizen named Erdal Demir claimed that when he and his family went to the beach, they were refused entry by two mafia-like individuals who forced them to rent an umbrella. Demir stated that he reported this incident to several institutions and will file a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office.

According to Erdal Demir, on Thursday, July 18, he and his family went to Damlataş Beach to swim, where two individuals who claimed to be working at the beach kiosk stopped them. Demir said, “Two mafia-like individuals there told us they would not let us onto the beach unless we rented an umbrella from them. We mentioned that we had our own umbrella, but they still unlawfully refused to let us onto the beach. We were forced to pay an illegal fee of 500 TL under the guise of an umbrella rental and were allowed to enter the beach. However, we neither used their sunbeds nor their umbrellas.”

“AUTHORITIES ARE SILENT ON THIS ISSUE”

Demir, who is complaining about the situation, said, “These beach workers are blatantly extorting money from people, and the authorities are not speaking out. The authorities are not fulfilling their responsibilities regarding this issue. Despite reporting this situation to the authorities, no one has shown any concern.” He stated that he had complained about the incident to the relevant authorities and will file a criminal complaint with the prosecutor’s office.
