Instagram will be reopened

Access to Instagram remains restricted. According to BTK, a meeting was held between the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Instagram officials. As a result of the discussions, Instagram will be reopened after the Cabinet meeting.

The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) had imposed a restriction on Instagram starting August 2nd. The reason for the restriction was cited as non-compliance with "catalog crimes."

According to journalist Bülent Aydemir, the meeting with Instagram officials went well. Instagram will become more sensitive in removing content related to the terrorist organization PKK. It will implement algorithms for this purpose. However, a double standard continues with Hamas-related posts. The outcomes of the meeting were presented to President Erdoğan. Instagram will be reopened after the Cabinet meeting.
