A new cyber threat has emerged for Apple users. Specifically targeting Mac owners, this malware infiltrates devices by using fake versions of well-known applications. Security experts are warning about this dangerous software called "Cthulhu Stealer."

CTHULHU STEALER THREAT FOR MAC USERS

Cybersecurity researchers have reported that a new type of malware named Cthulhu Stealer is targeting Mac devices. According to research by Cado Security, this software began to be sold on the cybercrime market towards the end of 2023.

ACCOUNT INFORMATION BEING STOLEN

Cthulhu Stealer deceives users by imitating popular software. For instance, it infiltrates Mac devices using counterfeit versions of commonly used applications like CleanMyMac. Once it obtains the necessary permissions, it can capture sensitive data such as iCloud passwords, browser cookies, and Telegram account details.

Such attacks raise growing security concerns for Mac users. A recent report by Cisco Talos revealed a Microsoft security vulnerability that could lead to system access and data theft on Mac devices.

Additionally, other types of malware, such as Banshee, continue to pose threats by targeting browsers to collect login information, cryptocurrency wallets, and personal data. Apple regularly warns its users about these types of security vulnerabilities.
