As winter approaches, Alanya is entering a period of increased electricity consumption. The new model announced by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, particularly concerns those living in areas with high electricity usage.

Under the new system planned by the ministry, high-consumption subscribers will be subjected to cost-based pricing. The increased electricity use in Alanya during winter months, especially for large houses, hotels, and commercial enterprises, may lead to a rise in costs with this new regulation. Households with low consumption will benefit more from existing government support.

Cost Increase for High Consumers

About 3% of electricity users in Alanya will be directly affected by this new regulation due to high consumption levels. While air conditioning use is intense in summer, electricity consumption rises again in winter with the use of electric heaters and other devices. Minister Bayraktar stated that with this new model, those with high consumption will contribute more to energy costs, and the support will be distributed more fairly to low-consuming households.
