Attention motorcycle riders in Alanya!
Speaking to Dim TV about the frequent motorcycle accidents in Alanya, President of Alanya Motorsports Club, Uğur Uzun, said, "Motorcycles do not forgive mistakes".
In the summer months, especially in Alanya and throughout the Mediterranean region, motorcycle accidents occur. These accidents are taking the lives of many young people. Careless motorcycle riding and the failure to use safety gear significantly increase the risk of death in accidents. Uğur Uzun, the president of Alanya Motorsports Club, stated that they are working to reduce the number of accidents and issued important warnings to drivers. He said, "In 2013, we established the Motorsports Club. Our goal in founding this club was to bring all motorcyclists together under one roof, provide training, seminars, and promote conscious motorcycle riding. The Mediterranean region has a favorable climate for motorcycling. People ride motorcycles both in the summer and winter months, which means there is a lot of motorcycle use. Typically, people between the ages of 15 and 25 ride motorcycles without helmets and without awareness, which puts traffic in a difficult situation. Cars also don’t pay attention because these smaller motorcycles, such as scooters, try to pass. Professional motorcyclists do not make such mistakes easily".
SEAT BELTS IN CARS, HELMETS ON MOTORCYCLES
Uzun also addressed families, "I want to speak to families. They give motorcycles to their children as soon as they turn 16, and they ride them without any awareness. After they get their license, they also need to learn advanced riding techniques because motorcycles do not forgive mistakes. Motorcycle accidents either end in death or serious injury. That’s why we have to use the necessary safety equipment, especially helmets. Just as we put on seat belts when we get in a car, we must absolutely wear helmets when riding a motorcycle".
MOTORCYCLE RIDING HAS TURNED INTO A SHOW
Uzun emphasized that some motorcyclists are risking their lives for social media, saying, "Recently, some motorcyclists have turned riding into a show by creating accounts on social media. They perform dangerous and risky maneuvers in traffic just to post on social media, and these often result in accidents. Every year, we conduct safe driving training for university students who ride motorcycles in cooperation with the Alanya District Governor’s Office, the District Police Department, the District Gendarmerie Command, and Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University. We will hold another seminar on October 2. I recommend motorcycle enthusiasts attend this event because the programs are very educational".
