During inspections by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, pork was detected in products from the Köfteci Yusuf restaurant chain. This finding caused a nationwide stir in Turkey and sparked widespread debates on social media. However, company officials stated today that these allegations could be a "setup."

Shocking Claim from Özgür Demirtaş

Commenting on the matter via his social media account, Prof. Dr. Özgür Demirtaş pointed out that there could be different interest groups behind the incident. Demirtaş stated, “Why would a business worth millions of dollars use pork at a ratio of one-thousandth? That would be a huge risk,” suggesting that mafia-like groups might be trying to devalue the company through such scandals to buy it cheaply.

Allegations Behind the Scandal

In his statement, Demirtaş said the following:

"Even if pork is cheaper than regular meat, using it at a ratio of one-thousandth would hardly affect the company’s costs. However, taking such a risk would pose a great danger for a business worth millions of dollars. Therefore, we should question whether mafia-like groups are trying to take over the company at a low price".
