In Alanya, sand lilies were damaged by heavy machinery!

Despite being a protected and endangered species, the sand lilies in Alanya were destroyed by unidentified individuals.

At Keşefli Beach in Alanya, rare and protected sand lilies were reportedly destroyed by unknown individuals using heavy machinery. This incident has caused a strong reaction from local residents.

"EVERYTHING IS DEVASTATED"

Güldane Şahin, who noticed the destruction of sand lilies during her morning walk on the beach, said: “Something very upsetting happened here. There is a pile here, possibly created by an organization or individuals as part of river cleaning work. I believe it was done unknowingly. Many sand lilies were uprooted and left under sand and piles. Those that could be uprooted are buried in the piles, and those that couldn't be uprooted have been damaged and devastated.”

"IF OUR NATURE DIES, SO WILL WE"

Şahin also emphasized the need for the registration of sand lilies: “Please officially register the sand lilies. These areas are protected zones and are also nesting and growth sites for caretta caretta turtles. Sand lilies have their breeding and living habitats here; let’s protect them. Dear officials, please protect our nature, it is our life insurance. If our nature disappears, we will already be lost”.
