Antalya is right to demand its share! The highest taxes are paid by Antalya and Istanbul

For a long time, it has been argued that the accommodation tax should remain in Antalya, and the fact that Antalya is among the provinces that pay the highest accommodation tax proves the legitimacy of this demand for the region.

In the period from January to October 2024, the accommodation tax collected from hotels across Turkey increased by approximately 73% compared to the previous year, reaching 10.6 billion Turkish Lira. This amount corresponds to 327.5 million USD. According to data compiled by Turizmdatabank from the Ministry of Treasury, the total accommodation tax paid amounted to 9.6 billion Turkish Lira (598.2 million USD).

ANTALYA AND ISTANBUL LEAD THE WAY In the ranking of provinces paying the most accommodation tax, Antalya and Istanbul are at the top. From January to October, a total of 3.28 billion Lira was collected in Antalya, and 3.25 billion Lira in Istanbul. These two cities make up a significant portion of the total tax collected.

Experts indicate that the increase in accommodation tax is due to the growth in the tourism sector and rising accommodation prices. The high demand, especially in tourism hubs like Antalya and Istanbul, has contributed to the rise in tax collections.

Tourism sector representatives emphasize the importance of using accommodation tax revenues for investments in the industry and promotional activities.
