A fire broke out on a Russian passenger plane during landing at Antalya Airport.

A passenger plane arriving in Antalya from Russia caught fire due to a technical malfunction during landing. All passengers on board were safely evacuated. Following the incident, the airport was closed to flights. A Russian passenger plane, landing in Antalya due to a severe storm, caught fire on the runway. Thanks to the swift response of the firefighting teams, all 95 passengers and 6 crew members on the Sukhoi Superjet 100 were safely evacuated.

It was reported that there were no injuries, and the plane was moved to a parking position after the fire was extinguished. Antalya Airport was closed to flights for approximately 7 hours following the incident. It was stated that the plane had landed in Antalya due to adverse weather conditions. The General Directorate of Meteorology had issued an orange alert, and the storm was ongoing in Antalya.

In a statement by the Russian airline Azimuth, it was noted that the fire occurred after a hard landing and all passengers were evacuated. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced that at 9:34 PM, the pilots issued an emergency call due to the fire after landing at Antalya Airport. The ministry also stated that landings at the airport were suspended until 3:00 AM.

Departures Are Being Conducted from the Military Runway

The Antalya Governorship reported that the 95 passengers and 6 crew members of the Russia-Antalya flight, whose engine caught fire during landing at Antalya Airport, were safely evacuated. The statement noted that at 9:34 PM, after landing at Antalya Airport, the plane's pilots issued an emergency call due to the fire.

"The fire was swiftly extinguished at 9:36 PM by our Airport Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) teams. The 95 passengers and 6 crew members were safely evacuated at 9:43 PM, and no further issues occurred. Efforts to remove the aircraft from the runway are ongoing, and landings at the airport have been canceled until 3:00 AM. Departures from the airport are being conducted from the military runway".
