Big risk in Alanya: no passage for anyone, closed until May

Alanya Municipal Council Member Ayhan Doğru announced that due to a landslide in the Sapadere Canyon, the canyon will remain temporarily closed until safety measures are completed, with plans to reopen in the first week of May.

Ayhan Doğru, who is also the Chair of the Trade and Commerce Commission and the President of the Alanya Hatay Association, stated that after inspections, it was determined that the canyon, in its current state, poses a significant risk.

In his statement, Ayhan Doğru mentioned that safety measures will be implemented as quickly as possible, and the canyon is expected to reopen in the first week of May. During this period, the canyon will remain closed to visitors, and understanding from both local and foreign tourists is expected.

Ayhan Doğru said, “As a result of the inspections, it has been determined that opening the canyon under current conditions poses a major risk. Therefore, the canyon will remain closed until the necessary safety measures are completed. It is planned that the safety measures will be completed by the first week of May at the latest, and the canyon will reopen to the public.”

Tourism sector representatives and travel agencies in Alanya also stated that they would make arrangements based on this announcement, prioritizing the safety of tourists.
