Alanya to Host Two-Day Anchovy (Hamsi) Festival: Culture, Music & Free Fish

The Alanya Black Sea Association (ALKARDER) is set to host its annual Hamsi (Anchovy) Festival on November 29–30, 2025, in Alanya.

Held behind the old municipal building, the festival will feature a stage for live performances, tents with regional products, and free anchovy servings for attendees.

Performers at the festival will include beloved Black Sea-style artists such as Davut Güloğlu, Onay Şahin, Onur Atmaca, Filiz İlkay Balta, and İhsan Aydın, bringing the soulful music and traditions of the region to Alanya.

The head of ALKARDER emphasizes that the festival aims to celebrate and preserve Black Sea culture within Alanya, and warmly invites residents and visitors alike.

A highlight of the event is the generous free anchovy offering — throughout both days, festival-goers can enjoy the legendary Black Sea small fish at no cost.

Analysis & Outlook:

The festival provides a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and could help strengthen the ties between Alanya and Black Sea traditions.

Free fish offerings enhance the event’s appeal and are likely to attract a large and diverse audience.

Local vendors and producers have an opportunity to showcase regional products and cultural crafts.

Over time, such cultural events may boost Alanya’s tourism economy, especially during off-peak periods.

However, logistical challenges — such as safe transport and storage of large volumes of fish — will require careful planning and execution.
