A 10-day partnership in Alanya turned into a nightmare

Azerbaijani National Hasan Fayyaz was fined 500,000 TL for a 10-day partnership with a company in Alanya. He has called on the authorities to find a solution and address the injustice he has faced.

Azerbaijani national Hasan Fayyaz shared his significant problem and sought assistance from the authorities. In 2014, he bought a house in Turkey and then, in 2018, decided to invest in a company operating a supermarket. However, this brief investment period ended with an unexpected turn of events. Fayyaz acquired a 50% share in the company in 2018 but, just 10 days later, returned the shares to the seller and exited the partnership. He also paid approximately 10,000 euros in compensation during this process. Six months ago, when Fayyaz noticed his bank card was not working during a purchase, he contacted the bank. The bank employee informed him that there was an attachment on his account and advised him to seek a solution from the tax office. Fayyaz discovered that due to a fine imposed on the company in 2020, over 500,000 TL was seized from his account. He hired a lawyer and began the appeal process but stated that the incident had negatively affected his mental health and prevented him from sleeping.

"I want the authorities to find a solution"

Fayyaz described his situation in an interview with Dim TV: "Ten years ago, I bought a house in Turkey and in 2018, I decided to invest in a company operating a supermarket. I acquired 50% of the company’s shares and then returned them to the seller after 10 days, fulfilling my compensation obligations of around 10,000 euros. Six months ago, when I noticed my bank card wasn't working, I went to the bank. The bank employee told me there was an attachment on my accounts and I needed to go to the tax office. I found out that due to a fine imposed on the company in 2020, over 500,000 TL was seized from my account. We hired a lawyer and filed our appeal. However, this event has severely affected my mental state. I am Azerbaijani and came to Turkey with my family from Iran, planning to invest in Turkey after selling my properties in Iran. Now I cannot sleep, worrying about new problems. How can a fine be imposed on someone who was only a partner for 10 days, six years later? It’s just a supermarket. Is this happening because I am a foreigner? I am asking the authorities to help me with this issue. I love this country more than anything. I want a solution to this problem in the country I see as my second homeland.”
