Victory Day and Turkish Armed Forces Day Celebrations in Alanya
On August 30, Alanya celebrated the 102nd anniversary of Victory Day and Turkish Armed Forces Day with great enthusiasm. Thousands of citizens gathered in front of the Atatürk Monument to participate in a torchlight procession, accompanied by flags and anthems.
The celebrations of Victory Day and Turkish Armed Forces Day in Alanya were held with grandiosity, as in the entire country. The evening program in front of the Atatürk Monument was attended by Governor Fatih Ürkmezer, Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik, Alanya City Council President Nurhan Özcan, protocol members, and thousands of citizens. The opening speech of the program, organized jointly by Alanya Municipality and the City Council, was delivered by Mayor Özçelik.
"WE WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF OUR GREAT LEADER"
Speaking to the crowd gathered for Victory Day, Mayor Özçelik said, “Today, we celebrate the 102nd anniversary of Victory Day with joy. We have gathered under our star-and-crescent flag, sharing our joy as a nation. Protecting our Republic and its values is our greatest duty and responsibility. Drawing strength from our Great Leader's words, 'Only great nations achieve great deeds,' we will continue to follow his path and serve our people. The Great Leader, who illuminated the future of our country with his genius, transferred sovereignty unconditionally to the people and built the Republic of Turkey, rising from the ashes, based on the principles of a democratic, secular, social, and legal state,” he noted.
"MY FAITH IN TAKING OUR COUNTRY TO GREATER HEIGHTS IS ETERNAL"
Mayor Özçelik continued, “We remember with reverence our martyrs who sacrificed their lives to make these lands our homeland. We are always proud of the independence legacy they left us. While expressing my gratitude to the martyrs who have passed into eternity, I also convey my thanks to our veterans. Thanks to their heroism, we live in freedom and independence today. August 30 is the day when a nation, united as one heart, defends its homeland against those who try to take our future from us. My belief that we will advance our country with the same spirit of unity and solidarity in the future is endless.”
THE FESTIVAL SPIRIT WAS CELEBRATED TO THE FULL After Mayor Özçelik’s speech, protocol members lit the Republic torch, and the torchlight procession commenced. Thousands of citizens, holding Turkish flags and accompanied by anthems, marched from Atatürk Street to İskele Street and then back to the Atatürk Monument with great excitement. Governor Ürkmezer and Mayor Özçelik greeted the citizens and joined in the march. In addition to local residents, both Turkish and foreign tourists captured this moment on their mobile phones, immortalizing it. The program ended with a musical performance by Tülay Özdemir, İrem Özalp, and Burak Gündoğdu in front of the Atatürk Monument.
