Tourism Season in Alanya Starts with Worry: It's June, Still No Sign of Crowds

Despite the start of summer, Alanya lacks expected tourist numbers
Despite the official opening of the summer season, Alanya has not seen the anticipated influx of tourists. Empty hotels, beaches, and restaurants have raised concerns among local businesses and tourism professionals.
Burhan Sili, President of the Alanya Touristic Operators Association (ALTID), emphasized the need to extend tourism throughout the year and support small businesses.
EMPTY BEACHES AND HOTELS
Although the season has started, the usual buzz in the streets, hotels, and beaches is still missing. A Russian tourist commented on social media,
“Last May, millions were on holiday — where is everyone now?” expressing surprise.
Other tourists pointed out the emptiness of the beaches and restaurants, saying,
“The season has started, but no one is here!”
SILI: TOURISM MUST BE YEAR-ROUND
ALTID President Burhan Sili stressed the limited nature of the current tourism season:
“It’s confined to just 6–7 months — this needs to be extended.”
He stated that they are working with local authorities to develop strategies for year-round tourism, including cultural, health, and sports tourism.
SMALL BUSINESSES NEED SUPPORT
Sili also emphasized the urgent need to support small and medium-sized businesses:
“Otherwise, both the regional economy and the tourism sector may face serious difficulties.”
