Hope for Alanya’s Tourism Sector in Russia-Ukraine Developments

Prisoner Swap Agreement Reached at Istanbul Trilateral Meeting; Alanya's Tourism Sector Hopes for Rise in Russian Tourists

A significant diplomatic step was taken to end the Russia-Ukraine war during the Trilateral Meeting between Turkey, Russia, and Ukraine, held in Istanbul under the mediation of Turkey. The meeting, chaired by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes. A prisoner swap agreement was reached, reportedly covering all severely ill prisoners and those under the age of 25.

Although the Ukrainian delegation stated that Russia still rejects an unconditional ceasefire, they expressed hope, emphasizing the need for a future leaders' summit.

In Alanya, the tourism industry welcomed the progress with optimism. Ali Orkan, President of Konaklı Tourism Business Association, said, “Before the war, Russian tourists made up the largest portion of our visitors. If these talks lead to peace, we may see a gradual increase next season.”

Şevki Taç, President of the Cleopatra Hoteliers Association, added, “A ceasefire could bring significant growth. Operators will restore flights, but the tourism recovery may take more time. We hope peace is achieved soon.”
