One of a kind in the world: A major move from Alanya

Alanya is preparing to host a major international sports event that will make global headlines.

The countdown has begun for the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Alanya Challenge, which will be held from June 11 to 15. The event will take place at the International Beach Sports Center, one of the visionary projects of Alanya Municipality, and marks the facility’s first major tournament.

A total of 112 teams from 29 countries will compete in both men's and women's categories for Olympic ranking points. Tournament Director Oğuz Değirmenci stated that the qualifiers will start on June 11, with 32 teams in the main draw battling it out over four days.

“ONE OF A KIND IN THE WORLD”

Municipal Advisor Abdurrahman Açıkalın emphasized that the facility, completed in just two and a half months, is a unique investment not only for Alanya, but also for Turkish and international sports. He noted that the venue will be operational year-round, and that the next major event will be the European Beach Handball Championship.

A VISION FROM MAYOR ÖZÇELİK

Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik stated that the center is not just about sports, but also part of Alanya's goal to become a global brand city:

“We don’t want Alanya to be known only for sea, sand, and sun. Through sports tourism, we will keep this city alive all year long. Our goal is to become a city that sends athletes to the Olympics.”

He also emphasized that the people of Alanya are the real architects of this success, and that greater achievements will be made through unity.
