Where is this dirt coming from? In Alanya, Gümüşdere is flowing black!

In Alanya, the dirty and oily water flowing from Gümüşdere into the sea has drawn the reaction of local residents. While the source of the pollution remains unknown, citizens are awaiting a solution from the authorities.
Gümüşdere, which drains into the sea, has caused anger among the residents of Alanya due to the dirty and oily waste flowing in recent days. In a complaint received by the Alanya Postası Newspaper's hotline, it was stated that the river is discharging black, foul-smelling water into the sea, creating a threat to both the environment and human health.
ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER WARNING
The complaint suggests that the pollution flowing from Gümüşdere, which has been releasing oily and black water into the sea for several days, could be industrial waste. "A few days ago, I saw the river flowing into the sea all night. There was a smell similar to sewage, and the flow was intense for 15 minutes. This situation must be resolved as soon as possible," the complaint reads. Some locals have speculated that the pollution may be coming from the industrial zone, to which Ali Rıza Açman, the president of the Metal Industries Chamber, responded.
"IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR INDUSTRIAL WASTE TO BE DISCHARGED INTO THESE CHANNELS"
Açman stated that it is impossible for industrial waste to flow into these channels, adding, "About a month ago, we carried out a large-scale cleaning throughout the industrial area. All the grates and drainage systems were cleaned. Discharging oil or other waste into such channels is strictly prohibited, and frequent inspections are conducted. If such an event had occurred, we would have immediately noticed and intervened."
THE SOURCE OF POLLUTION REMAINS UNKNOWN
The uncertainty regarding the source of the pollution from Gümüşdere has sparked further debate, and the fact that the point where the river discharges into the sea is near a tourist beach area makes this pollution even more concerning. The waste accumulating on the beach and the foul smell are disturbing both locals and tourists. The local population is demanding that the source of the pollution be identified and the issue resolved as soon as possible.
