Actor George Wendt, who became iconic for his portrayal of Norm in the American television classic Cheers, passed away at the age of 76. His death was announced by his manager, and his family stated that Wendt passed away peacefully in his sleep at home.
Wendt appeared in a total of 275 episodes of Cheers from 1982 to 1993. He won the affection of viewers with his portrayal of Norm, earning six Emmy nominations for the role. Norm’s fixed seat at the end of the bar has become a piece of television history. In an interview, Wendt said, "I was drinking beer long before Cheers. When I bought a few cans of beer in my grocery shopping, people would smile. I’d tell them I was taking it home for rehearsals."
