In Alanya, 754 million invested in rural roads over two years

The Antalya Metropolitan Municipality has carried out a major transformation of rural roads in 2023-2024. A total of 754 million 740 thousand Turkish Lira was invested in rural roads across 19 districts, connecting citizens to a modern transportation network.
The Antalya Metropolitan Municipality is conducting intensive work on rural roads in 19 districts to ensure safer and more comfortable transportation for citizens. The Department of Rural Services carried out a total of 44 kilometers of hot asphalt and 362 kilometers of surface-treated asphalt on rural roads in 2023-2024.
Additionally, the team completed 410 kilometers of gravel roads, repaired 38 kilometers of roads damaged by landslides, and performed maintenance on a total of 3,638 kilometers of roads. For the repair of roads damaged by heavy vehicles, 18,953 tons of asphalt were used.
Mountain roads, which align with Antalya’s traditional pastoral culture, were also not forgotten. Ismail Akdemir, the head of the Rural Services Department, emphasized that despite the mountain roads not falling under the municipality's jurisdiction, special budget allocations were made by President Muhittin Böcek to renovate these roads.
Akdemir stated, "We have renovated all the mountain roads. Our citizens can now reach their pastures much more easily." He also mentioned that, in response to harsh winter conditions in the Taurus Mountains, construction camps were set up to facilitate access, and a total of 1,439 kilometers of snow-fighting work was carried out over the past two years.
Akdemir further stated that the municipality has applied for international credit to modernize rural roads. If the credit is approved, all bridges in the rural areas will be renewed, and road standards will be elevated to the highest level. He added, "Our Mayor Muhittin Böcek places great importance on rural roads. With this in mind, we are building not only for today but also for tomorrow through road construction and maintenance projects that cover our vast geography from Gazipaşa to Kaş."
