Alanya on Double Alert Ahead of Summer: Forest Fire and Traffic Preparedness Intensified

As the summer season approaches, Alanya is ramping up its preparations to tackle two major challenges: the increasing risk of forest fires due to rising temperatures and the anticipated traffic congestion during the tourism season. Authorities are taking coordinated steps to both protect green areas and improve urban transportation safety and flow.

With the onset of summer, both forests and roads in Alanya are under heightened alert. While the Antalya Regional Directorate of Forestry is inspecting fire preparedness on-site, a large-scale meeting led by the Alanya District Governorate was held to find long-term solutions to the city’s chronic traffic problems.

“Together on Alert” for Forests

Kemal Kayıran, Director of Antalya Regional Forestry, visited the İncekum Fire Response Unit in Alanya to oversee wildfire season preparations. He evaluated staff readiness, equipment condition, and logistics.

Kayıran urged citizens to remain alert and avoid lighting fires in or near forested areas, adding, "We are all on alert for our forests."

A Multi-Stakeholder Approach to Traffic

A meeting chaired by Alanya District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk brought together police, gendarmerie, municipal enforcement, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, and the Highways Authority. Topics included congestion on main roads, pedestrian zones, and tourist traffic. Strengthened coordination and citizen feedback will form the basis of a safer traffic plan to be implemented in the coming days.
