Tax Reaction from the Real Estate Sector in Alanya

The Appraisal Commissions, which convene every four years, have proposed increases of up to 1400% in property valuation rates, drawing sharp criticism from Alanya’s real estate sector. The presidents of ALEKOD and ALEMDER stated that such steep increases in tax policy harm the economy and called for a fair regulation.

The high projected increases in property valuation rates have caused outrage among real estate representatives. The Appraisal Commissions' decisions, with increases reportedly reaching up to 1400% for the upcoming period, signal a significant tax burden and have created concern in the sector.

Speaking on the issue, Abdullah Tuncer, President of the Alanya Association of Real Estate Agents (ALEKOD), commented on the recent aggressive tax policies, stating:

"People are struggling with tax liens"

“Steps are being taken in our country to reduce inflation and fix the economy, but in the meantime, tax policies have become very harsh. Our members have been struggling with economic difficulties for the past three years and are dealing with tax liens. These excessive increases in property taxes are a reflection of this trend. Combating the unregistered economy is only possible by lowering tax rates. High rates backfire. Tax increases should target large sectors that have benefited from tax exemptions for years. Our citizens are just trying to put bread on the table.”
