"Situation in Alanya Worsens: Shocking Warning from Scientists"

Assoc. Prof. Güray Doğan from Akdeniz University announced that water pollution in the coasts of Alanya and Gazipaşa has reached a critical level. The expert called on the tourism and agriculture sectors to cooperate.
WATER POLLUTION HAS REACHED A CRITICAL LEVEL
Water pollution has reached dangerous levels along the coasts of Alanya and Gazipaşa in Antalya. In a statement to Yeni Alanya newspaper, Assoc. Prof. Güray Doğan said that the ecological balance in the region has been disrupted.
TOURISM AND AGRICULTURAL LOAD CAUSING POLLUTION
According to Doğan, the pollution is not only caused by tourist density, but also by the discharge of agricultural waste into the sea and the increase in microbes in seawater due to climate change. In addition, waste dumped from beaches and boats, along with excessive plastic use, also threaten the marine ecosystem.
CALL FOR JOINT ACTION FROM SECTORS
Doğan emphasized that cooperation is necessary not only among environmental scientists but also between the tourism and agriculture sectors. The expert warned: “If urgent measures are not taken, we may face a much more critical situation next year.”
