Antalya and Alanya launch major water-saving initiative.

A major water-saving initiative is being launched in the Antalya and Alanya regions, targeting hotels and tourist infrastructure. The Mediterranean Region Hotel Owners Association (AKTOB) announced the “One Drop — One World” campaign, aiming to reduce the daily water consumption in a single hotel room, which can reach up to 1,500 liters.
The project centres on three main strategies:
- Reduce: Installing flow-limiting shower and faucet systems
- Reuse: Harvesting rainwater and recycling grey water
- Replace: Upgrading outdated equipment that causes water waste
It is estimated that these measures may lower hotel operating costs by 10-15%.
The initiative comes in response to projections placing Turkey in the “high water stress” zone by 2050.
