Montenegro Introduces New Visa Procedures for Turkish Citizens

Montenegro has announced the implementation of an expedited visa regime for Turkish citizens following the temporary suspension of visa-free travel, triggered by an incident in which one person was injured with a knife.
In the wake of this event, protests and arson attacks targeted Turkish businesses in Podgorica, escalating tensions.
Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held talks with Montenegro’s Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, expressing expectations for the protection of the safety and rights of Turkish nationals. Montenegro responded with assurances and committed to measures. Steps are also planned to regularize the status of approximately 14,000 Turkish citizens currently residing in Montenegro.
