Scandal at Kleopatra Beach, Alanya: Sewage water and foul smell hit the shore
14 November / Yeni Alanya

At the renowned Kleopatra Beach in Alanya (a Blue Flag zone), sewage flood from a sewer collector was again reported, accompanied by a strong unpleasant odor, particularly after rainfall.
Locals and tourists say this is a recurring issue, and despite complaints, a permanent solution has not been implemented. One witness reported: “The water smells like sewage, access to the sea is almost unusable.”
The incident appears tied to a sewer burst or overflow triggered by rainwater wash‑out; this has implications for public health and the resort’s reputation. The authorities have pledged urgent action, but residents call for ongoing monitoring and system repair.
