New route from Sabiha Gökçen to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (ISG) has commenced flights to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, starting from June 27th. Operated by Pegasus Airlines, this new international route will initially operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. By the end of July, the frequency is expected to increase to four times a week. This new route marks Pegasus Airlines' 7th new international destination launched in 2024. Previously, Pegasus had initiated routes to Zagreb (ZAG) in Croatia, Sphinx (SPX) in Egypt, Aktau (SCO) in Kazakhstan, Sofia (SOF) in Bulgaria, Chișinău (RMO) in Moldova, and Bratislava (BTS) in Slovakia. With these developments, ISG now connects to a total of 164 destinations, including 40 domestic and 124 international routes across 54 countries.
Alp Er Tunga ERSOY, CEO of ISG, commented on the new route: "The United Kingdom has consistently been among the top 5 countries in terms of passenger numbers for Sabiha Gökçen. There are strong historical ties, economic relationships, and significant tourism partnerships between the two countries. Last year, Turkey welcomed approximately 4 million tourists from the United Kingdom. The trade volume between Turkey and the United Kingdom, our country's fourth largest export market, reached $19.5 billion in 2023. We expect this new route to further strengthen the existing warm relations, enhance cooperation opportunities, and attract an additional 21,000 international passengers to our airport throughout the rest of the year."
Güliz Öztürk, CEO of Pegasus Airlines, emphasized the airline's contribution to Turkey's tourism potential through each new route: "We are pleased to advance our mission with the launch of direct flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Edinburgh. As we expand our flight network, we will continue to connect Turkey with other countries culturally and economically."
