Lavender Harvest in Kemer

As part of the lavender promotion events organized by the Kemer Municipality, the harvest has started in the lavender garden established in Gedelme Plateau. Citizens taken to the lavender garden by municipal vehicles took plenty of photos.
To diversify tourism, the 2650-square-meter land owned by Kemer Municipality in the 700-meter-altitude Gedelme Plateau has been decorated with swings, seating areas, a wishing tree, a donkey statue, photo frames, and seesaws before the promotion events.
Following a joint effort with Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, lavender planted on Kemer Municipality's land, which was made suitable for agriculture, is now being harvested. Citizens who were transported to the lavender garden free of charge took photos in the lavender garden adorned with purple hues and at the photo-taking spots.
To diversify tourism, Kemer Municipality organized lavender promotion events, allowing citizens to visit the historical Gedelme Castle, Gedelme Cave, and the 2000-year-old plane tree as part of the events.
Gencay Kayrak, Director of Parks and Gardens of Kemer Municipality, recalled that the first lavender planting was carried out in April 2022 with the contributions of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, and stated that they planted 2700 lavender saplings this year.
Kayrak pointed out that they had their first lavender harvest last year and said, "Our lavenders are currently mature and ready for cutting. Our citizens also came to our lavender garden for the first harvest today. We have created photo-taking areas in our lavender garden. Our citizens no longer need to go to Isparta and Burdur to see lavender. They can come here and have a good time whenever they want."
Serkan Can, a Physical Education Teacher at Rukiye Koç Secondary School, said, "I am happy to participate in the free lavender event organized by Kemer Municipality. It is a very nice event. I thank Kemer Mayor Necati Topaloğlu and the municipal staff for their efforts."
Tülinay Kayretli also said, "We came to visit the lavender garden. This place is very beautiful. I liked it very much. It is a natural wonder. I thank those who contributed."
Ezgi Beşe also expressed her gratitude to Mayor Necati Topaloğlu for bringing the lavender garden to Kemer, saying, "It has become a place where both the residents of Kemer and tourists can have a wonderful time. It is also a very beautiful place in terms of tourism."
It was noted that citizens who want to participate in the promotion events can go to the lavender garden for free on Tuesdays and Thursdays from the municipality.
