Blow to cryptocurrency scammers: Assets worth 166 million lira seized

In Istanbul, an operation against cryptocurrency exchange fraud resulted in the detention of 8 suspects.

The Cyber Crime Department began efforts to prevent crimes related to "fraud" and "money laundering" and to capture the suspects.

The team discovered that some of the suspects managed companies that operated under the guise of cryptocurrency exchanges, creating a trustworthy image with expensive advertising campaigns and sponsorships from abroad. The suspects used the cryptocurrency exchange to scam and defraud citizens.

After completing their investigations, the team arrested 8 suspects, including the owner of the identified company and crime group leader Y.U., in a coordinated operation.

Following the operation, assets including 4 residential properties, land, and vehicles with a market value of 166 million 864 thousand lira, believed to be acquired from criminal proceeds, were seized. The detained suspects were taken to the police station for further processing.
