Mango production is increasing in Alanya

At the meeting organized by the Alanya Chamber of Agriculture, important decisions were made regarding mango production. The chamber, which brought together mango producers, announced that it would accelerate its efforts to increase the contribution of this fruit to the regional economy.

The main agenda items of the meeting were;

-Expansion of production areas: The current production area of 1,500-2,000 decares has reached 3 thousand decares, including unregistered areas.

-The chamber aims to increase this figure even further.

-State support: Mango production requires high investment costs. For this reason, producers are requesting supports such as price guarantees from the state.

-Restriction of imports: Mango imports made through the Mersin Port negatively affect domestic producers. The chamber expects support from the authorities to correct this situation.

-Cooperative formation: The establishment of cooperatives by producers will ensure more effective management of marketing and production processes.

-Education and awareness: High-quality and efficient production is aimed by increasing training activities for producers.

Alanya Chamber of Agriculture President Tahir Göktepe said that mango production has great potential for the region and that this potential should be evaluated in the best way possible.
