In Alanya, those suffering from this illness go there before visiting a doctor

The Damlataş Cave, located in Alanya and discovered in 1948, offers hope to asthma patients while attracting significant interest from both local and foreign tourists. As the first cave opened to tourism in Turkey, Damlataş Cave has become a popular destination for thousands of tourists every year.
Discovered by accident in 1948 during dynamite blasting for a pier construction in Alanya, Damlataş Cave has also become a focal point for asthma patients seeking relief. The cave’s high humidity, constant temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, and clean air particularly help asthma patients breathe more comfortably. Asthma patients visit the cave on doctor’s advice and spend some time there. Featuring stalactites and stalagmites formed over thousands of years, Damlataş Cave stands out among Alanya's natural attractions. The cave, which significantly contributes to regional tourism with its increased number of visitors during the summer months, caters to both health tourism and nature enthusiasts. Local and foreign tourists explore the cave’s mystical atmosphere, take photos, and have the opportunity to closely examine these magnificent natural artworks created over millennia.
Last year, the cave was visited by 360,000 people, and in the first eight months of this year, approximately 180,000 people have visited it. Among the visitors, 55% were asthma patients.
"A place worth visiting, very nice environment"
Nisa Nur Tuna, who came from Bolu to visit Damlataş Cave, said she loved it. Tuna stated, “We made Damlataş Cave our first stop with our friends in Alanya. The inside is quite mesmerizing and very different. However, it is a bit humid inside, so it would be good if visitors keep that in mind. It’s a place worth visiting, a very nice environment.”
"This cave is beneficial for asthma patients"
Nurgül Yokuş, who visited Damlataş Cave from Antalya, said, “I’ve visited various similar caves before. I know that such caves are good for asthma patients. Here, the cave's temperature remains the same throughout the year, so I would recommend visiting in winter. We had a great time exploring and enjoying it.”
"A cave that has become a symbol of Alanya, I recommend it to everyone"
Mehmet Aysal, who expressed his admiration for Damlataş Cave, said: “I live in Antalya, and today I visited Damlataş Cave. I last had the chance to visit about 10 years ago. It’s a very beautiful and enjoyable cave, attracting attention with its stalactites and stalagmites. When you look from above, it has a needle-like appearance. The cave is visually stunning and ranks among rare tourism sites. With 98% humidity, it is also beneficial for asthma patients. I recommend this cave, which has become a symbol of Alanya, to everyone. Come and see it for yourself.”
