A cold wave is approaching: temperatures will drop by 7 degrees at once

Our country is preparing to be affected by a new cold wave. The cold air mass coming from Russia will cause a drop in temperatures across Turkey. After a brief warming on Tuesday, the cold wave will begin to be felt starting Thursday. A significant drop in temperatures is expected, especially in inland areas.

Starting Thursday, our country will come under the influence of the cold wave arriving from Russia. Meteorologists are warning of flood risks, especially in the Black Sea region. On Wednesday afternoon, the cold wave arriving from Russia will cause temperatures to drop by 7-8 degrees. The cold will be felt more intensely, especially on Thursday and Friday. In Istanbul, the temperature on Tuesday will be 21 degrees, but by Thursday, it will drop to 10-11 degrees.

NTV Meteorology editor Dilek Çalışkan, warning about cold weather for Thursday and Friday, stated: "The average temperature for cities like Istanbul and Ankara in October is 20 degrees. In the Aegean and Alanya regions, temperatures still reach up to 28 degrees. On Wednesday afternoon, a cold wave will arrive from Russia. Temperatures will be 7-8 degrees lower. We will feel this cold more intensely on Thursday and Friday. On Tuesday, it will be 21 degrees in Istanbul, but by Thursday, the perceived temperature will be 10-11 degrees."

FLOOD RISK IN THE BLACK SEA

Çalışkan also warned of floods in the Black Sea region, where temperatures are dropping, and mentioned that snow is expected in high-altitude areas. She said, "This cold wave will bring snowfall. We expect snow in places like Sinop, Samsun, Kastamonu, Ordu, Giresun, and Rize, at altitudes of around 1300 meters. Heavy rainfall is expected, especially along the Black Sea coast from Sinop to Rize, posing a flood risk".

Next week, temperatures are expected to return to seasonal norms.
