Pools have become a cause for alarm in Alanya

In Alanya, tests on drinking water sources revealed that 55 different samples contained unsuitable bacteria, raising concerns about public health.
According to the 2023 report from the local public health laboratory in Alanya, tests on drinking water and pool water have uncovered serious hygiene issues. Out of 55 tests on drinking water, unsuitable bacteria were found in all samples, and 55 out of 764 bacteriological examinations of pool water showed similar results. These findings are considered alarming for public health. Additionally, the condition of pool water is even more concerning; 1,272 out of 6,069 pool water analyses returned unsuitable results. This indicates that pools, especially those heavily used during the summer months, do not meet hygiene standards.
While various issues were also identified in chemical analyses, the quality of seawater was assessed positively, suggesting that seawater may be safer. The Alanya Public Health Directorate stated that they continuously monitor water sources and take all necessary measures to protect public health. This situation serves as an important warning for both residents of Alanya and tourists visiting the region.
