Good News for Alanya from Mayor Tavlı

The Chairman of the AK Party (Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi) Alanya District, Mehmet Şarani Tavlı, attended a meeting hosted by the Alanya Active Journalists Association (ALGC). During the event, he discussed current and upcoming services in areas such as transportation, traffic, healthcare, and agriculture, emphasizing: “We are working tirelessly for Alanya.”

In his opening remarks, ALGC President Ferit Kesen said: “As we all know, there are certain expectations from Alanya’s leading economic sectors. For example, the construction and real estate industries are seeking solutions to residential issues. There are also demands for the expansion of Gazipaşa Airport. Needs and expectations in education and healthcare never cease. Our chairman is here today to answer questions regarding these expectations. We thank him and his team for their efforts.”

Afterward, Chairman Tavlı answered journalists' questions.

Candidate Selection Process for Local Elections

Addressing the upcoming local elections, Mehmet Şarani Tavlı noted that AK Party supporters wanted to see their own candidate: “Due to the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı), we couldn’t field our candidate. However, we worked tirelessly to support the Alliance’s candidate”.

An Oncology Hospital for Alanya

Tavlı emphasized their commitment to establishing an oncology hospital in Alanya: “Our work on this project continues. Alanya not only serves its residents but also provides healthcare to summer visitors and people from nearby regions. The Alanya Training and Research Hospital is operating at an impressive efficiency of 98%. I would like to extend my gratitude to the chief physician, doctors, nurses, and all healthcare workers”.

New Infrastructure Projects

Tavlı shared updates about the progress on a cloverleaf interchange project: “We are nearing the end of the land acquisition process for this project, which will address a longstanding issue in Alanya. Thanks to our former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Alanya secured the largest budget allocation from the Highways Department for 2024. Out of a total of 2.5 billion TL, one billion has been allocated to Alanya. Additionally, an overpass will soon be constructed in the Demirtaş region”.

Flood Prevention Measures

Responding to a question about flooding during rainy days, Tavlı emphasized the importance of regular maintenance: “In a city like Alanya, if you don’t take preventive measures and ensure proper cleaning, flooding is inevitable. Neglecting sewer maintenance, as done by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, makes flooding unavoidable. We continue to advocate for all necessary services for Alanya”.

Rapid Growth in Alanya

Tavlı highlighted the challenges posed by Alanya’s rapid population growth:

“This growth has led to issues in traffic and electricity supply. We are doing our best to address these gaps. For instance, a new power line from Akkuyu will help close the electricity supply gap. Many residents in Alanya own homes in the city center, villages, and highlands. We are committed to ensuring the happiness of our citizens in all three areas. Serious efforts are also underway to expand Gazipaşa Airport.”

Two Key Services for Alanya

Tavlı announced two critical improvements:

“Residents of Alanya no longer need to travel to Antalya for autopsies. We have established a forensic medicine center in Alanya, and it is ready to operate. By December, autopsies will begin to be performed here. On the other hand, Alanya is also an agricultural district. Customs offices have been set up in both Gazipaşa and Konaklı Hali. Our university is preparing a laboratory to support this. This will save our citizens from waiting in customs queues in Antalya or Mersin. Alanya is larger than many provinces in our country, and we will continue working tirelessly to meet its needs.”
