Antalya and Alanya are struggling with scorching temperatures well above seasonal norms. Especially on Friday, thermometers are expected to reach 45 degrees Celsius, which could lead to a repeat of the 2020 record.

The felt temperature in the city has already reached 44.4 degrees. With humidity exceeding 50%, the oppressive heat is intensifying, and people are trying to cool off with hats, umbrellas, and hand fans. Especially during midday hours, the city center almost turns into a ghost town, with non-essential people avoiding going outside.

According to the Meteorology Department, Antalya’s average normal temperature for July is 28.4 degrees, and the "very hot weather" conditions will continue until Saturday. Temperatures are expected to reach 42 degrees tomorrow, 43 on Thursday, and 45 on Friday, equaling the highest recorded July temperature in Antalya since 1930 (45 degrees recorded on July 6, 2020).

The situation is similar in Alanya, which is also under the influence of hot air waves originating from Africa and Basra. Temperatures reach 39 degrees in the shade and, combined with increasing humidity, adversely affect life. Authorities emphasize that especially those with chronic illnesses, the elderly, and children should avoid going outside unless necessary. Due to the high humidity, the felt temperature is expected to approach 50 degrees in some areas.

Meteorology and health experts continuously warn citizens about the heat. It is particularly advised not to go outside between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM, to drink plenty of water, and to wear light-colored clothing. It is emphasized that individuals with chronic illnesses, the elderly, and infants need to be especially careful during this period.
