Price Increase for Chicken Meat in Antalya

Chicken meat in Antalya has seen a 35% price increase. Depending on the type, the price per kilogram of chicken meat ranges from 55 to 300 lira. In contrast, the price per kilogram of red meat ranges from 400 to 700 lira.

Recent significant price hikes for chicken meat in Antalya have led to serious reactions among consumers. This increase in the price of white meat has made it difficult for many people to purchase chicken and has reduced consumption rates. Due to economic hardships, families struggling with their budgets are turning to cheaper alternatives instead of white meat. The recent price increases for chicken meat, which is a staple for retirees and low-income individuals, have led to a decrease in chicken meat sales.

Decrease in Chicken Meat Consumption

Following recent price increases for chicken meat in Antalya, a decline in consumption has been observed. As chicken meat prices have risen to compete with red meat, producers of chicken meat have begun to worry. This situation has impacted both the consumption of chicken meat and market dynamics. Experts warn that if this trend continues, there could be long-term changes in the white meat market. Consumers are expecting authorities to implement measures and supportive policies to address the price hikes.

Decrease in Sales

Economic difficulties and rising costs throughout Turkey and in Antalya have led to increased prices for chicken meat. Following the rise in red meat prices, the hikes in chicken meat prices have significantly affected purchasing power. The price increases for products such as chicken wings, chicken thighs, drumsticks, chicken breast, and chicken chops are particularly noticeable.

After Red Meat, Chicken Meat Prices Have Also Increased

In Antalya, the price of red meat ranges from 400 to 600 lira per kilogram, while the price of ribeye steak exceeds 800 lira. The price of carcass meat is 450 lira, and cubed meat is priced at 600 lira per kilogram. Rising red meat prices have led citizens to turn to white meat. As a result, chicken producers have started increasing chicken meat prices four days a week. With red meat prices reaching exorbitant levels, demand for white meat has surged, causing chicken meat prices to skyrocket. Osman Yardımcı, President of the Turkish Butchers Federation and Antalya Butchers' Association, stated that chicken meat prices have risen by 200% over the past five months and that they are facing difficulties in supplying white meat.
