They are closely monitored in Antalya! There is no escape for them

In Antalya, the Provincial Police Department Traffic Branch has increased inspections for motorcycle users.

Around-the-clock checks have been conducted in parks, pedestrian pathways, and heavily frequented areas. Last night, a comprehensive inspection involving all teams was carried out. During the inspection, motorcycle riders without helmets and passengers riding without helmets were fined. Reactions of those who could not avoid the fines were captured by cameras, and comments from a citizen who was happily watching the operation from a bench brought smiles.

Under the instructions of Antalya Provincial Police Chief Orhan Çevik, the teams increased their motorcycle inspections and carried out simultaneous checks on motorcycle users. As part of a special inspection planned by the Provincial Police Department Traffic Branch, the inspection conducted on August 12 was carried out simultaneously at several locations in Antalya, including the coastal area of Konyaaltı district, around 10:00 PM. The teams warned motorcycle riders to wear helmets and fined those who did not comply with the rules, including both riders and passengers.

Passenger fined for not wearing a helmet continued on foot

A citizen who was a passenger on a motorcycle stopped during the inspection received a total administrative fine of 690 lira for not wearing a helmet. After the fine was issued, the Traffic Inspection Branch Director İdris Kan said, "It seems this fine was not effective; let's issue another one to make it effective." Consequently, the citizen continued on foot.

Surprised by the fine, he was happy instead

Osman Aksu, a passenger on a motorcycle who was stopped by police for not wearing a helmet, said, “This fine turned out to be very good; I had just woken up and opened my eyes with the fine. I received a total fine of 690 lira for not wearing a helmet. I will wear a helmet next time because I realized you can't argue with the police.”

"Luck, we couldn’t avoid the fine today either"

Enes Yılmaz, another passenger on a different motorcycle who was also fined 690 lira for not wearing a helmet, spoke to the cameras after receiving the fine. He mentioned that he had four helmets at home but did not bring any with him today, and said, "Luck, we couldn’t avoid the fine today either."

Fined for not wearing a helmet, asked the police for a helmet

Natali, a foreign national riding a motorcycle with her children without helmets, was also fined during the inspection. After receiving a total fine of 690 lira for not wearing helmets, Natali asked the police if they could cancel the fine. When the police officer saw that her children were upset, he gifted them a whistle and told them, "When you see that your mother and father are not following the rules, blow this whistle." Natali, seeing the gift, asked, "Can you also give me a helmet? I would be very happy if it is red," which made the police smile.

"Helmets save lives"

Tayfur Binler, who was wearing a helmet and had complete motorcycle gear, stated, "First of all, helmets save lives. Helmets need to be worn continuously, not just related to this inspection, but for our own health. Everyone needs to adhere to this. It is normal to fine drivers who do not follow the rules. I always carry helmets with me for the passenger; if something goes wrong, the person behind is at greater risk of falling off and getting seriously injured. Therefore, our equipment needs to be complete. I believe that after some time, people will become more conscious and adhere to the rules. In my opinion, it should continue for a while longer."

"We are very satisfied with the police teams"

Musa Ünal, who observed the operation with great pleasure from a bench and expressed his satisfaction with the police's actions, said, "The police teams are really doing a great job. Citizens ride scooters with two people; since it is a motorcycle, the risk of an accident is very high, and most citizens do not pay attention to this, even forgetting to signal. Therefore, regular inspections are very beneficial. I would like to address my motorcycling brothers. Be very careful on the road, avoid accidents, do not put traffic at risk, and follow the rules.”
