In the Konaklı district and Damlataş Beach area of Alanya, a fine of 464,585 lira was imposed on the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality due to sea pollution caused by a wastewater treatment facility. In a statement from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, along with a video showing the pollution, it was said: “The pollution meters underwater in Antalya was recorded by the Coast Guard camera.”

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change reported on its social media account that it was found that the wastewater treatment facility of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality was discharging wastewater into the sea with pollution levels exceeding acceptable limits. The statement noted that the pollution underwater was recorded by the Coast Guard camera, and following the ministry’s examination, it was determined that the wastewater discharge from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality’s treatment facility exceeded acceptable pollution levels. Due to the pollution, an administrative fine of 464,585 lira was imposed on the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, and legal proceedings on the matter were initiated. The ministry reported that new samples were analyzed and it was determined that the sea water values had returned to normal. Inspections and investigations in the area are ongoing.
