The siblings who lost their lives in the horrific family massacre in Izmir were sent off on their final journeys with a funeral ceremony held today. The funerals of Hiranur, Cemre, Ceylin and Nira Şimşek, who were killed by their father Vesim Şimşek in Bornova district, were laid to rest amidst tears. Mother Naciye Şimşek, who could not hold back her tears at the funeral ceremony, said, “My mother, which one of you do I feel sorry for? Let them bury Nira in the middle of them, she will protect her siblings too.” and broke hearts.

Vesim Şimşek, who was suffering from psychological problems in Izmir, plunged Turkey into mourning by killing his children. The incident took place yesterday morning in an olive grove in Bornova district. 11-year-old Hiranur, 4-year-old Cemre, 2-year-old Ceylin and 14-year-old Nira Şimşek were taken to the olive grove by their father and shot dead by their father there.

Vesim Şimşek Attempted Suicide After the Massacre

After calling his relatives and saying that he had shot his children and was going to commit suicide, Vesim Şimşek attempted suicide with the same weapon. Health teams dispatched to the scene determined that Cemre, Ceylin and Nira had lost their lives. Hiranur and Vesim Şimşek, who were seriously injured, were taken to the hospital and it was reported that their lives were still in danger.

The Bodies Were Buried in Tears

After the procedures at the forensic medicine clinic, the bodies were taken by the mother and taken to the Salihli district of Manisa. The siblings were buried side by side in the Karaağaç Cemetery after the funeral prayer held at the Hz. Ömer Mosque. Mother Naciye Şimşek hugged the coffins of her three children at the funeral ceremony and shed tears, saying, “Mother, which one of you should I feel sorry for? Vesim Şimşek Was in the Process of Divorce with His Wife

It was learned that Vesim Şimşek was in the process of divorcing his wife Naciye Şimşek and that their attempts to get back together were unsuccessful. It was stated that Şimşek worked as a worker in a chemical factory, lost vision in his left eye due to a work accident and was on paid leave.

It Was Revealed That He Bought Pastries on the Morning of the Incident

It was learned that on the morning of the incident, Vesim Şimşek went to a pastry shop and bought pastries for his children and told an acquaintance, “I bought pastries for the children. I will go home now and feed them.” It was also stated that Şimşek was diagnosed with lung cancer two months ago and was receiving treatment.
