Camel Riding Activities Cease in Alanya

Camel riding activities in Alanya have been terminated following a year-long grace period given by Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik. Despite the opportunity to operate under specific rules, camel owners who persisted in violating regulations, damaging tourism, and mistreating animals have had their activities halted.

In many tourist regions of Turkey, camel riding has already been banned, and this practice has now ended in Alanya as well. Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik had initially allowed camel owners to continue their activities during the tourist season for one year, provided they adhered to certain guidelines. However, recent inspections and complaints revealed that camel owners were not following the rules. Activities of those who operated outside designated locations, exhibited negative behavior towards tourists, charged exorbitant prices, and failed to meet the required standards for animal care have been discontinued. This decision was made in the Municipal Council Meeting.
