Snake Invasion in Apartments: Why Are Snakes Choosing Apartment Buildings?

Recently, there has been an increase in cases of snakes invading apartments. The primary reason for this phenomenon is the extreme heat. Snakes are seeking cool and shaded areas to escape from the heat, which leads them to enter apartments. The increase in urbanization and the reduction of natural habitats also contribute to snakes approaching residential areas.

In Elazig, the rising number of snakes is causing concern among residents, while experts explain that the reason snakes enter apartments is to escape the hot weather. Dr. İbrahim Akın Temizer from Fırat University stated that snakes are seeking cooler places to avoid the excessive heat and, as a result, are moving into residential areas.

Temizer mentioned that this situation is temporary and that the snakes will return to their natural habitats and enter hibernation with the cooling of the weather, which is expected to happen in about 15 days. As the weather warms up, snakes leave wetlands and green areas and enter apartments and homes, causing great fear and anxiety among citizens. Experts emphasize that this situation is temporary and urge the public not to panic, highlighting the importance of reporting snake sightings to the authorities. During this period, it is especially important for the public to be cautious and aware, as the snakes will return to their natural environment and go underground for winter hibernation.
