Incident at a 5-star hotel in Antalya: Foreign nationals beat a hotel employee to death with punches

In Manavgat, 67-year-old receptionist Hilmi Çelik, who tried to stop two Tunisian nationals allegedly attempting to enter a 5-star hotel by climbing over a wall, was severely injured after being punched. Çelik was taken to the hospital but did not survive. The attacker, Wassim Tounsi (30), was arrested.

The incident occurred in the Side district of Manavgat. Tunisian nationals Wassim Tounsi and Ilyes L. (28) attempted to enter the hotel grounds but fled when spotted by security. Hilmi Çelik, a receptionist at the neighboring hotel, came outside after hearing the commotion and tried to stop the fleeing individuals. Tounsi punched him and fled to a car where Amine H. (24) was waiting.

Three suspects arrested Bystanders, who saw Çelik fall and hit his head on the pavement, alerted emergency services. Çelik was taken to the hospital but could not be saved. The gendarmerie reviewed nearby and hotel security cameras to identify the suspects and arrested them in Side. Wassim Tounsi was taken into custody, while Ilyes L. and Amine H. were released.
