Record Increase in Minimum Wage: Rises to 40,436 Lira

In Turkey, the minimum wage increase is set once a year, and millions of workers are awaiting the increase scheduled for January 2025. In the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), however, the minimum wage has been raised for the third time this year.

The minimum wage in our country was last increased by 49% in January 2024, reaching 17,000 lira. A second increase was expected in July, but its absence disappointed millions of workers.

WILL INCREASE TO 24,000 LIRA IN JANUARY 2025

With an average inflation expectation of 42.42%, the net minimum wage in January 2025 is projected to be approximately 24,000 lira.

INCREASE MADE FOR THE THIRD TIME

In Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the minimum wage has been raised for the third time, now reaching 35,188 lira. The Minister of Labor of the TRNC, Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, announced that as of September 1, the minimum wage was increased by about 20% to 35,188 lira. At the beginning of the year, the minimum wage was 16,000 lira and rose to 29,000 lira in May. In the TRNC, the minimum wage is adjusted twice a year based on inflation, but this year it has been set three times.
