Earthquakes in Alanya Raise Concerns: Could Be a Sign of a Bigger Earthquake!

Two Earthquakes of Magnitude 4 and 5 Hit Alanya: Kaptanoğlu Comments
Two earthquakes of magnitudes 4 and 5 struck Alanya consecutively. Kaptanoğlu stated, "There were two earthquakes in a row, but there’s no reason to exaggerate. If the tremors continue, it could be a sign of a larger earthquake. Therefore, it is necessary to examine that region."
İhsan Erman Kaptanoğlu, a member of the Honor Board of the Chamber of Geophysical Engineers, explained, "Every year, there are 5-6 earthquakes of magnitude 4-5 in this area. There hadn’t been any earthquakes in that area this year, but one occurred the other day, and another one happened today. So, there’s no need to exaggerate."
"The area where the earthquake occurred needs to be examined carefully. Two earthquakes happened consecutively in that area, but if tremors continue for several weeks, this is called an earthquake storm. That would indicate a more significant earthquake is likely to occur."
"So, it’s important to monitor that area. But so far, there have only been two earthquakes. The second earthquake might have caused a dislocation in that region due to a fault rupture," he added.
