Massive price hike for cigarettes! The cheapest now costs 81 liras

Following the excise tax (ÖTV) increase, a new price hike was introduced for one group of cigarettes. According to the updated price list effective today, the cheapest pack of cigarettes now costs 81 liras.

As of January 2025, excise taxes on alcoholic beverages and cigarettes have been increased. Following the rise in the fixed tax amount per pack, cigarette prices also went up. Packs of cigarettes in the P.M. group saw a price increase of 9 liras.

After the 9-lira price hike, the cheapest pack in the P.M. group now costs 81 liras, while the most expensive pack rose to 89 liras. The new prices are effective starting today.

On the other hand, smoking is among the most common causes of lung cancer. It is noted that passive smoking — the inhalation of tobacco smoke by non-smokers — increases the risk of lung cancer by 24%.
