A young man from Konya became a hope for 6 people
In the Seydişehir district of Konya, while cleaning a hunting rifle, Vahit Tüfenk (38) accidentally shot himself, and after treatment at the hospital, his brain death was confirmed. His donated organs, including the lungs, heart, liver, kidneys, and corneas, gave hope to six people.
The incident occurred on January 3 at around 1:30 PM in the Boyalı neighborhood. Vahit Tüfenk went to a friend's country house and started cleaning an old rifle that belonged to his aunt's husband. While cleaning the weapon, it discharged, and Tüfenk was seriously injured by a gunshot to the head. After relatives reported the incident, medical and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. Tüfenk was first taken to Seydişehir State Hospital and later transferred to Konya Numune Hospital.
While receiving treatment in intensive care, Vahit Tüfenk's brain death was confirmed. His family then decided to donate his organs. His lungs were sent to Istanbul, his heart, liver, and one kidney to Antalya, the other kidney to Konya, and his corneas to patients in Balıkesir.
Vahit Tüfenk was buried yesterday in Seydişehir.
