Alanya Municipality is relocating: History repeats itself

The municipal building, whose foundation was laid in 1987 under Mayor Müstakbel Dim and inaugurated in 1991 during Aydoğan’s term with Demirel's attendance, is becoming a thing of the past.
In 1987, during Müstakbel Dim’s tenure as mayor (1984–1989), the construction of the old municipal building began with the foundation laid by then-Prime Minister Mesut Yılmaz. The building was completed during Mayor Cengiz Aydoğan’s term (1989–1999) and inaugurated in 1991 during the visit of True Path Party (DYP) leader Süleyman Demirel.
Thirty-four years later, the new municipal building, whose foundation was laid in 2017 under Mayor Adem Murat Yücel, will begin operations next month under Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik. Özçelik stated that the final touches are being completed, and departments have already started relocating.
MUNICIPALITY MOVES TO A NEW BUILDING
The final touches are being made on the new municipal building, including the asphalt paving of the main access road. Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik personally inspected the work and announced that the municipality will begin operations in the new building starting in February.
Last week, the western entrance road was paved, and over the weekend, the main access road was completed. Mayor Özçelik inspected the site accompanied by Deputy Mayors Hasan Servet Ünlü, Hasan Can Kamburoğlu, and Sadık Dizdaroğlu.
"OUR DEPARTMENTS HAVE STARTED MOVING IN"
Mayor Özçelik stated that the February City Council Meeting will be held in the new building:
“On December 9, 2017, the foundation of Alanya Municipality's new building was laid. We are now completing the final works and are in the process of moving. Last week, we completed the asphalt paving of the western entrance, and today we are finalizing the main road. Interior works are nearly finished, and last week we relocated the Police Department. Starting Monday, all units will begin a rapid phased relocation.”
MAYOR THANKS CONTRIBUTORS TO THE PROJECT
Mayor Özçelik noted that the final touches are underway:
“Since day one, we have been actively working to complete this building quickly. My deputies and I visited the site weekly to address deficiencies and coordinate with contractors. Today, we are finishing the last details, and the building is practically ready. We have also adhered to our financial commitments, ensuring timely payments to contractors. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the planning, foundation laying, and completion of this building.”
