Scrappage Incentive Back on the Agenda: Safer and Cleaner Transport for Antalya and Alanya

As old vehicles that have been on the roads of Antalya and Alanya for decades continue to pose safety risks and contribute to pollution, the government is once again considering a scrappage incentive. A new draft law has been submitted to Parliament aiming to remove vehicles aged 25 and older from roads across Turkey. The main goal of this regulation is to accelerate environmental transformation and support domestic automobile production. Vehicles manufactured in Turkey, such as Togg, are expected to be prioritized under the incentive scheme. This will encourage the purchase of new vehicles and reduce the number of old and unsafe ones in traffic.

“My First Car” Program to Support Families

The “My First Car” program, to be implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, targets low-income families with three or more children. The program will offer long-term payment options and a Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) reduction. Eligibility will require meeting income criteria and Turkish citizenship.

Old Vehicles Pose a Threat in Antalya and Alanya

In tourism hubs like Antalya and Alanya, vehicles older than 25 years not only cause pollution but also jeopardize road safety. Frequent reports cite mechanical failures and insufficient braking systems in these old vehicles as major contributors to accidents. With the new incentive, the goal is to make urban transportation both safer and more environmentally friendly by removing these outdated cars from the roads.
